WBEZ and the Chicago International Film Festival are proud to screen Dracula as the first film in our High Fidelity Film Series!

The doors will open at 7pm for general seating. At 7:30pm, WBEZ Reporter Shannon Heffernan will screen the 1931 version of Dracula, starring Bela Lugosi and moderate a conversation following the film with Eula Biss, renowned author who has written extensively on immunology by way of vampire films.

NOTE: This event is free to High Fidelity and Cinema/Chicago members but does require an advanced RSVP. Seating will be first come, first served, and it is not guaranteed. This event may be overbooked to help facilitate a full house. Please arrive 20-30 minutes before the screening start to help ensure seating.


ABOUT THE FILM

The legend of Dracula continues in this gripping version of cinema's most ominous vampire, digitally remastered for the 75th Anniversary Edition. ABOUT THE POST-SHOW CONVERSATION

Eula Biss is the author of three books: On Immunity: An Inoculation, Notes from No Man's Land: American Essays, and The Balloonists. Her work has been supported by a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Howard Foundation Fellowship, an NEA Literature Fellowship, and a Jaffe Writers' Award. She holds a B.A. in nonfiction writing from Hampshire College and a M.F.A. in nonfiction writing from the University of Iowa. Her essays have recently appeared in The Best American Nonrequired Reading and the Touchstone Anthology of Contemporary Nonfiction as well as in The Believer, Gulf Coast, Denver Quarterly, Third Coast, and Harper's. Eula Biss and John Bresland are the Chicago-based band STET Everything.

ABOUT THE SERIES

From January to June of 2015, in partnership with the Chicago International Film Festival, the WBEZ Live Events team will produce four film screenings for WBEZ High Fidelity and Cinema/Chicago members!

The films will all fit a loose theme of Science and each screening will have a WBEZ reporter or program attached to them, including Shannon Heffernan, Filmspotting, Worldview and the Nerdette podcast. The films and the post-show conversations are co-curated by these reporters and shows along with the Chicago International Film Festival.
